At 4 p.m. on November 8th, all 2019 students of Honors College attended the lecture on career planning which was one of the pilot programs about the construction of learning style. The lecture was given by Party Secretary of Honors College Wang Xinwen.
How to finish college was the theme of the lecture. Focusing on it, Secretary Wang made three demands, understanding themselves, understanding the world and planning undergraduate study. In terms of understanding themselves, Secretary Wang pointed it out that only orient correctly can students find the right direction and then choose the appropriate professional curriculum and learning goals. Moreover, in terms of understanding the world, Secretary Wang discussed the relativity of world peace and conflict and the stability of the theme of China's reform with the international and domestic development situation and personal growth environment, encouraging students to take bold steps and carefully choose the direction. He also put forward some suggestions for students’ career planning combining the quantity and quality of learning resources. About planning undergraduate study, Secretary Wang summarized the growth path for Honors College students in the four-year university life. In the first year, students should take Honors Course, comprehensively develop and properly improve themselves. In the second year, when start studying major, they should work hard and dare to ask and try. In the third year, students should devote themselves into academic research, chasing for exchanges actively and strive to further study. In the fourth year of school, they could graduate with achievements, learn from each other and enrich experience. At the end of the lecture, Secretary Wang gave students the hint from aspects of moral quality and thought guidance. Although based on small matters in life, the lecture was meaningful enough.
Secretary Wang's humorous lecture was closely related to the main points, which impressed students deeply. His comprehensive and thorough analysis was also thought-provoking. The lecture enabled Honors College students to recognize the importance of career planning and demands of university, greatly mobilizing the enthusiasm of students to participate in independent learning and drawing a brilliant blueprint for them. After the lecture, students also reflected on it seriously and discussed heatedly.
Students should attach importance to career planning and take action to realize their dreams. University is the land of sweat and the blue sky of personal brilliance. All individuals can create a brilliant future for themselves.
