Den Qian emphatically elaborated distinct guiding principles for running Honors College of NNU as well as its value. Honors College aims at cultivating undergraduates with innovative and leading talents as well as international vision, which is the most radical difference between Honors College and other colleges.
Shen elaborated the criteria for the revision work of education programs in detail. He put forward a concrete proposal about personalized education, research-oriented teaching, multiple forms of assessments, textbook optimization and extracurricular learning.
Conferees reached consensus on the proposals. Confronting with the cultivation aim, not only the teachers need to understand how to cultivate and lead top-notch talents but also the students themselves need to determine their personal development directions. Only with deep comprehension of the cultivation aim and all-around efforts can Honors College really realize the its aim. Professor Cao Xinhua from Liberal Arts College made a statement which can represent teachers’ opinions: To students in Honors College, teachers’ guidance is of great importance. It is crucial to let the freshmen know that they are excellent students selected from a group of brilliant students and let them set a higher goal to encourage themselves. Through deep discussion in this conference, college needs to improve qualities of teaching and students’ competency.
