In November, to enhance Honors College students’ understanding of their majors and promote the communication with outstanding seniors, the students from Grade 2013 successively held the experience sharing sessions in groups according to their majors.
The students majoring in journalism invited Wei Junyu, who is from School of Journalism and Communication and has been admitted to Nanjing University as a postgraduate. Wei illustrated that students should focus on their own professional abilities、English levels and academic achievements. When it comes to the preparation for postgraduate recommendation examination, Wei mentioned that students should not be limited to the subjects based on the testing requirements. They could refer to relevant textbooks of different universities. “The more you learn about the academic writings and the academic achievements of the interviewers, the more likely you will pass the interview”, he said.
The students majoring in finance had an opportunity to consult Chen Tianyi and Wang Yuxuan from Honors College, and Chen Mengqiao from Business College. They have been enrolled at Nankai University、Southeast University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Three excellent seniors suggested that students should select a university on the basis of their career projects and personalities. If some students have a higher pursuit in academics, Comprehensive 985 universities would be a better choice than schools of finance and economics. However, the professional universities not only provide a thick learning and cultural atmosphere, but also embrace you with more human resources. What’s more, being honest matters a lot during interviews. Students should answer the questions sincerely based on their development instead of cheating.
The law students invited the seniors Shen Yi、Sha yannan and another two students from Honors College and School of Law. Besides, relevant students from Grade 2014 and 2015 attended the meeting as well. In terms of the law major, seniors offered efficient learning methods thoughtfully. In addition, they advised that students should make notes in the textbook, which would be of great help for review. At the same time, they could memorize the structure of knowledge combined to the articles of law, which could help them understand the articles and cases more intuitively.
The students majoring in Primary Education and Preprimary Education invited Honors College student Xiao Minmin、School of Education Science Li Lujun and Sun Qing. They are of their own characteristics: one of them has been recommended to be a postgraduate; one has attended the teaching assistance group; another has prepared to take the test for teachers’ authorization. They shared their experience based on their various developing road. To be more specific, students should improve practical levels, especially the ability of “San Bi Yi Hua”. Furthermore, they encouraged the juniors to have a further communication with their tutors.
The successive hosting of experience sharing meetings benefited most students. They gained a clear understanding of their further instead of being at sea. (Translated by Ji Juanyu)
