On the afternoon of March 20th, Honors College invited Chen Ruyong, the senior editor of Jianghai Academic Journal, to hold a lecture about academic writing in the conference hall.

At beginning of the lecture, professor Qian Zaijian, the dean of Honors College, briefly introduced the main points of the lecture to students, in order to help them get a better understanding of the content.
Firstly, based on his own working and writing experience, Mr. Chen explained the criteria of paper evaluation and solved students’ doubts about ABC journals. Then, Mr. Chen explained methods about topic selection, entry point and norm of thesis writing in detail. On the topic, Mr. Chen emphasized the importance of innovation and profound data accumulation. In terms of entry point, it is recommended to choose the moderate one. In terms of norm, special attention should be paid to the part of references.
Finally, on the topic of practice on thesis writing, Mr. Chen suggested that students start with the book review and literature review, listing the issues that should be paid attention to when submitting the manuscript as well.
Students all benefited from the lecture, recording notes and exchanging them after the lecture.
