On June 5th, 2019, the result of 2019 “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for Undergraduates” project approval was officially announced. After declaration by students, college recommendation and expert defense evaluation organized by university, 17 projects of Honors College were approved, including 3 national (provincial key) projects, 3 provincial projects and 11 school-level projects. Many students also participated projects of various professional schools.
According to information, national projects of Honors College are minds from flowers and plants and emotions of ancient and present-- Micro-course experiment which is based on plant’s etymology and imagery from “The Book of Odes" and aimed at promoting traditional culture from multi-audience perspective guided by secretary of the party committee in School of Liberal Arts and hosted by 2017 students Chen Shufan and Luo Renjie majoring in Liberal Arts, preparation of metal-organic framework composites and electrocatalytic performance for CO2 reduction guided by PhD tutor in School of Chemistry and Materials Science and youth Changjiang Scholar Lan Yaqian and hosted by 2017 Honors College Student Zhaochen majoring in Chemistry, defects of juvenile criminal record storage system and feasibility study on the application of "principle + exception" guided by dean of School of Law and PhD tutor Cai Daotong and hosted by 2017 Honors College students Yang Chen and Wang Shifan majoring in law. In addition to the above projects, the categories of projects include law, literature, science, engineering, and art, which fully reflects the unique advantages of Honors College about promoting training in large category, strengthening innovative education and highlighting interdisciplinary integration. It also highlights that Honors College Students closely follow the pulse of the time, pay attention to social hotspot and assume social responsibility.
As a platform for training creative undergraduates in Nanjing Normal University, Honors College has long aimed to cultivate top undergraduate talents with solid basis in their major with innovation, scientific and practical ability. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for Undergraduates is a scientific research with high recognition and gold content held by many schools annually. It is aimed at cultivating students' innovative and entrepreneurial ability and producing more innovations with visibility and social influence, in line with educational direction and training ways of Honors College. It is worth mentioning that many projects of Honors College are the team mode of “4+1” (four 2017 students + one 2018 students), aiming to help low-level students guided by excellent senior students with rich experience during the whole process of program application, implementation and completion and make full use of multi-disciplinary integration to build an all-round and three-dimensional platform for scientific and technological innovation in order to promote students’ overall ability of research and innovation and to influence more Honors College students to become "leaders with international vision" better and faster by participating in scientific research and innovation projects.
