Honors College Held the Lecture on the Theme of ‘Comprehensively Advancing the Rule of Law’

At 4 p.m. of November 23rd, the lecture delivered by Professor Li Yusheng, who is the doctor of law, the RCCK Central Committee member, Vice President of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and member of Jiangsu Political Consultative Conference, was successfully held in 315 auditorium of Xuehai Building. The lecture was on the theme of ‘Problems revolving around comprehensively advancing the rule of law’.
Professor Li started the lecture with four national strategies, which includes comprehensively deepening reform, comprehensively implementing the rule of law, comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society and comprehensively strengthening Party discipline, and emphasized the implication of implementing the rule of law. Professor Li analyzed the rationality of the rule of law and pointed out that the rule of law is a realistic choice of human society’s historical development, the state’s way of long-term peace and stability, and the protection of people’s liberty and rights. Advancing the rule of law is the choice of Communist Party of China after the experience and lessons taken from the founding of People’s Republic of China. Besides, he cited a large number of real cases from all over the world to prove his points. Subsequently, Profess Li introduced the general goal of advancing the rule of law that is the establishment of the socialist system of laws with Chinese characteristics and the establishment of socialist rule of law in China. Advancing the rule of law contains five principals, including upholding the leadership of the CPC, upholding the principal position of the people, upholding the principle that all are equal before the law, persisting in a joint commitment to rule of law and rule of virtue, and proceeding from China’s specific situation. Moreover, Professor introduced the existing efforts of advancing the rule of law, such as the changes in policy and the professions of all the legal departments. He also stressed the important roles that citizens play in the process of advancing the rule of law and the establishment needs everyone’s involvement.
The wonderful lecture ended in the warm applause. Through this lecture, students had a better understanding of law.
