Honors College Held the Third 2017-2018 Fulbright Program Short-term Expert Lecture

From 25 October to 26 October, Honors College held the third Fulbright Short-Term Expert Lecture in 315 auditorium of Xuehai Building. Professor Dean Chen was invited to the lecture as the lecturer.
Professor Chen teaches at Lamape College in New Jersey and is currently visiting Jilin University. His main research direction is political science and international relations.
The theme of this lecture is the global vision of American President Trump and the implication of the American foreign policy. In the first day of the lecture, Professor Chen demonstrated the diplomatic and diplomatic styles of different presidents in the history of the United States through the pictures. Specifically, he briefed the students on President Wilson’s 14-point Principle of Peace, President Jackson’s democracy and populism in American history. Then, he combined the current people’s evaluation of Trump ‘populist’ and introduced Trump’s current political measures. In the second day of the lecture, Professor Chen guided the students to review the contents of yesterday’s lecture and elaborated Trump’s current conservative nationalism. He recommended the political English articles to encourage everyone to think more about what kind of foreign policy they supported.
The students listened attentively throughout the speech and raised questions in connection with the current affairs taken place in the United States. Professor Chen also answered their questions patiently. The lectures not only tempered the students’ English proficiency, but also made the students better understand American politics.
