Honors College held the seventh Fulbright lecture

On the afternoon of December 16th, Honors College held the seventh 2016 Fulbright program short-term expert lecture in 315 auditorium of Xuehai Building. Professor Jeannette W. Cockroft, who is from Schreiner University in the Texas of USA, delivered a lecture on the theme of “American Policy in General”.
Professor Jeannette W. Cockroft’s main field of research is “American History and Political Science. She started the lecture with a question “What do you know about American history?” Subsequently, she took students back to the development of American history since the founding. Then, she explained that the political system in today’s America, including constitutional system, electoral system and female representation in politics, is related to its tradition. What’s more, taking the example of 2016 U.S. general election, Professor illustrated the changes that might happen in policies of the new U.S. government.
After the lecture, Jeannette W. Cockroft had a heated discussion with students concerning the U.S. general election and solved the collegians’ puzzles. Moreover, she presented her views on the difference between Donald Trump’s policy and Hilary’s, and the effect on the future relationship between China and America.
The successful hosting of the lecture not only helped collegians sharpen their English skills, but also helped them have a further understanding of the historical logic behind the America’s politics and policies. Above all, the lecture expanded students’ global vision and embodied the global educational philosophy of Honors College.
