Honors College Held the Third 2016 Fulbright Program Short-Term Expert Lecture

On December 2nd morning, the third short-term expert lecture addressed by Fulbright in Honors college held in 315 report hall successfully. The American professor Shin Freedman held a lecture dealing with ‘Collegiality: How Do We Work with Others ‘. Qian zaixian, the dean of Honors College presided over this lecture.
Shin Freedman draw off the lecture by answering the question 'who Am I and Where Have I been'. She thought that Collegiality are often connected with cooperation and willing to help others. It means that colleges should unite and share power. In order to facilitate everyone to understand, professor Shin Freedman gave three examples :Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Florida International University to illustrate that Collegiality is the fourth evaluation criterion of ability education except education, service and learning. This shows the importance of leadership training in the University.
To make the lecture more active and harmonious, the professor and students started communicate with each other. Due to the interest in Chinese culture, Professor Shine asked students how to say ‘homogeneity’ in Chinese and some students answered ‘tongzhi’. After fierce discussion, Processor Shine’s husband translated it into ‘touji’, like ‘congeniality，agreeableness’. According to this lecture, students knew more about ‘collegiality’ and the importance of developing it. In addition, students extended their horizons and the lecture had far-reaching impact on the development of students’ abilities in collegiate life.
