Honors College Holds Communication Meeting about Student's Platform for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program (IETP)

On March 9th, Honors College held communication meeting about ‘Student's Platform for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program’. The meeting was host by Scientific and Technological Competition Department of college’s student union. Deputy den Shen Zhongyu and Grade 2014 students attended the meeting.
First, deputy den Shen motivated all the students to pay high attention to the program. He pointed out that after almost 10 years’ development, IETP, forming three levels of national level, provincial level and municipal level, had covered areas of innovative training, entrepreneurship training and entrepreneurship practice. Students of Honors College had made brilliant achievements in IEPT over the past years. Shen also emphasized that students of Honors College should chase the opportunity to promote individual all-around development. Then he explained the procedure of project application and gave suggestions on building teams. Deputy den Shen’s speech made students have a deeper understanding of IEPT.
Then, four team leaders whose project had won a prize on or above provincial level shared experience with students. Their majors cover many areas in science and engineering and their projects also had theoretical type and practical type.
Dai Jiawen was the first to make a speech and she focused on the method to select humanistic topic. Dai pointed out that humanistic topic should pay attention to individual and project’s positioning. Projects should reflect innovative sense and be cater to social hot spots. Especially, she said good work cannot do without a good title and the title should be academic as well as artistic to improve competence.
Then, Xu Yinxuan explained the procedure of IEPT. He reminded that team members should try to enter higher levels competition and be brave to become the leader. He said, projects on science focused more on the research and his English level had improved a lot through the nearly one year’s preparation. The third student was Yang Jiyuan, he introduced the practical steps of running project. He pointed out that one year was actually very short so that students should choose a project with practicability and use holiday completely.
Song Yuxuan was the last to make a speech. She said it was important to keep in touch with tutors and strictly follow the schedule. Videos, photos and other raw material should be kept, which would be great significance when the project is complete. At the end of the meeting, students raised questions about some problems and received detailed explanations.
The communication meeting was over but students’ IEPT experience just began. Honors College attaches importance to cultivating students’ innovative ability and IEPT provides a great stage for students to show themselves. Students of Honors College have got outstanding achievements these years, which will encourage the following students to reproduce the success.
